Accountancy Practice - Finance Specialist (Tax, VAT, Compliance)

iMultiply are working with Jon Preshaw Tax, a consultancy specialising in tax dispute resolution services, based in Glasgow.

The Company

The company was established in 2019 and works with a broad range of clients, often in multiple jurisdictions assisting them to manage and resolve tax disputes across all tax types. Clients include large companies, owner-managed businesses, trustees, individuals, and other professional advisers from Scotland and across the UK.

Due to continued growth over the last couple of years the company is looking to recruit an additional Tax professional to assist in delivering its services and to help grow the business even further.

The Role

The main purpose of the role will be to work with the Director and others in the business to ensure the smooth running of HMRC investigations, enquiries, and disclosures. Responsibilities will include:

Work with other experienced HMRC dispute resolution specialists to manage HMRC investigations under COP 9, COP 8, WDF and other various technical disputes.
Take a proactive role in the preparation of investigation and disclosure reports, (including all computational aspects) and other correspondence with HMRC.
Deal directly with clients, contacts and other parties as appropriate to ensure work is done and produced according to required timescales, including attendance at client meetings and meetings with HMRC in person or online.
Prepare and monitor work plans to ensure smooth management of the tax dispute and that relevant deadlines are met.
Provide support with the negotiation of settlements with HMRC.
Undertake detailed technical analysis and report your findings in a clear and concise manner.
Record all time spent on each project and assist with the billing and collection in respect of each client in the portfolio.
Keep up to date with developments in the wider tax dispute resolution field Required experience

ATT/CTA qualified (or overseas equivalent), or relevant work experience.
Report writing and tax computational experience
High level proficiency in the use of excel is essential
Experience of tax enquiries and investigations
