Accountancy Practice - Accounts Assistant/Assistant Accountant/Bookkeeper

The Firm

This long-established independent firm of chartered accountants, registered auditors and business advisers is based in Glasgow City Centre and is looking to expand its team.

The Role

They are seeking a hard-working and motivated individual to work as a Senior Bookkeeper within a growing team in their central Glasgow office. This is a full-time role but depending on the candidate, they would consider part-time hours.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Significant experience of processing accounting transactions within Xero bookkeeping software
  • Good understanding VAT rules and regulations
  • Submit VAT returns on behalf of clients.
  • Possess an understanding of accounting principles – they should understand that their work will have a direct impact on the efficiency of year-end accounts preparation.
  • Experience of preparing management reports.
  • Able to work under pressure and possess strong organisational skills to comply with monthly/quarterly VAT submission deadlines.
  • Have client facing experience as they will be requesting information and querying discrepancies directly with clients

Essentials

  • Experience in a Bookkeeping role within an accountancy practice
  • Experience of using Taxcalc accounts production and tax software preferred.
  • Excel and IT competency.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong work ethic.
  • Team player with a problem-solving attitude.
