Accountancy Practice - Finance Specialist (Tax, VAT, Compliance)

iMultiply are working with a well-established, forward thinking accountancy practice based in central Glasgow, to recruit a Personal Tax Manager.

The Firm

The Firm is led by a very experienced Partner group which is supported by extremely well qualified accountancy professionals. The Firm specialises in tax compliance and advice, business services accountancy, audit and corporate finance.

The Role

The Personal Tax Manager role will primarily involve managing a portfolio of 250 Personal Tax clients including High Net Worth Individuals, Company Directors and Non-Domiciles as well as supervising, coaching and mentoring less experienced colleagues.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor personal tax department workflow ensuring Tax Returns and payment advice is given and Tax Returns filed in a timely manner throughout the year.
  • Review draft Partnership tax computations prepared by Accounts department.
  • Liaise with clients, colleagues and HMRC on personal tax matters.
  • Identify and advise on tax issues arising as part of the compliance process.
  • Identify tax planning opportunities.
  • Manage and develop junior members of staff.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Strong technical personal tax knowledge and be able to answer technical queries from clients and colleagues.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant practical personal tax experience.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written. 
  • Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team.
  • Be able to produce accurate work in a timely and cost effective manner. 
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to proactively manage existing client relationships and to develop new relationships
  • CA / CTA / ATT/ ACCA or equivalent is preferred.
