iMultiply are working in partnership with a well-known UK wide charity to recruit an Interim Finance Director, for an immediate start and a likely initial period of approximately six months.

 

The Organisation:

This not-for-profit organisation operates an innovative, fast paced, collaborative environment and is looking for an experienced Interim Finance Director to join them during an ongoing period of change.

This is a brilliant opportunity for the successful individual to play a key part in guiding and advising the organisation throughout this exciting period, and to provide continuity until a longer term permanent appointment is made.

 

The Role:

The Interim Finance Director will be responsible for the finance team and its operations. The post holder will need to be almost immediately effective, with responsibility for overseeing the production of management accounts which provide an accurate picture of forecasts, budget monitoring, cash flow position and reserves.

They will hold relationships with other executive and leadership functions and need to be influential in a senior management team.

As a result of recent software implementation, the interim Finance Director will be expected to help review the current strengths and weaknesses of the finance function, to contribute to the ongoing modernisation of the charity, and make recommendations as to improvements and future structure / governance of financial matters, in line with the organisation’s strategy and recent organisational changes in other teams.

 

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Contribute to and drive development and implementation of strategy and policy
  • Lead on financial management, audit and risk management
  • Lead on financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting against restricted and unrestricted income
  • Work closely with the chair of the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership to the Finance and Facilities functions
  • Work closely with the Business Development and Delivery teams
  • Work closely with colleagues on the Executive Leadership Team and their teams to help support the strategy of the organisation
  • Work effectively with external stakeholders
  • Contribute flexibly overall and undertake any other duties that may be reasonably required within the scope of the role
  • Provide recommendations on potential improvements and changes to the finance function

 

To be considered for the role you must have:

  • Ability to operate at a strategic level as a collaborative and supportive member of the Executive Leadership Team
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and spreadsheet usage, as well as accounting software packages (preferably Microsoft Business Central)
  • Skilled at presenting financial information to non-financial managers
  • Excellent management skills and the ability to develop teams and individuals
  • Affinity with the values of the organisation and the ability to translate these into ways of working 
  • Experience gained in financial management and governance within the charity sector
  • A recognised accountancy qualification with a thorough understanding of charity accounting practices and the ability to complete, analyse and review the statutory accounts

 

On Offer:

Working almost completely remotely, with the ability to travel to offices when required, the Interim Finance Director role offers a competitive salary dependant on experience.

The organisation operates an outputs based approach to working and is therefore open to considering part-time working and flexibility regarding actual working hours.
