The Role 

This newly created role within the finance team is a hands-on analytical finance role involved in delivering the month end process, using data to identify key financial trends and insight into variances, supporting the development of annual budgets and forecasts and therefore ensuring the business has quality data at its disposal with which to help shape business strategies and decisions. 

Reporting to the Group Finance Director this role will also be expected to bring a continuous improvement mindset to existing systems and processes and work in conjunction with the Finance Director providing support for the budgeting and forecasting process along with ad-hoc reporting on specific sites and customers, some of which will require data manipulation through Excel.

This role will become important member of the business going forward as the team seeks to grow its reputation as a key partner to the operations of the group.

On Offer 

The position of Financial Accountant will offer a salary of £40,000 - £50,000 dependant on experience plus an excellent benefits package. The organisation is looking to appoint on a full- time permanent basis and the office premises are in Perth although remote working will also play a part of the role.

Key areas of focus will include:

  • Preparation of monthly financial and management accounts including commentaries.
  • Responsible for preparation and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts across the full group in line with the month end timetable
  • Preparation of timely and accurate group consolidation each month
  • Preparation of monthly board pack with detailed analysis and supporting data
  • Prepare year end accounts files for the auditors compliant with the up-to-date standards and support statutory audits and reviews
  • Key Business Variance Analysis and commentary, and key metrics
  • Supporting the Finance Director with key statutory adjustments, accounting standard changes and other technical accounting
  • Support and prepare cash flow forecasts
  • Support the Finance Director to produce annual budgets and rolling forecasts including Balance Sheet, Cash Flow and Capex schedules
  • Cross company communications with operational, sales and other key budget holders
  • Supporting the Finance Director with preparing the annual and quarterly budgets and reviewing with senior management
  • Promote a continuous improvement approach to business policy and processes, implementing positive change

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have the following experience: 

  • Qualified Accountant (e.g. CA, ACCA, CIMA) with a preference for a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a commercial environment; 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Experienced or a passion to use modern financial ERP systems, Oracle or Netsuite experience desirable but not essential. 
  • Experience in management reporting, planning and budgeting skills; 
  • Organisation and prioritization of workload to meet strict deadlines 
  • High levels of drive and personal commitment to achieve success; 
  • Motivated self-starter with a flexible ‘can-do’ attitude; 
  • A strong team player, with a desire to make a significant contribution to the finance department;
