The Organisation

The Finance Team supports the organisations delivery of its mission, strategic priorities and business objectives.  While utilising their ERP system, the team is responsible for effectively managing and planning the organisations financial resources, identification of sustainable funding streams, as well as accurate and timely financial statutory and management reporting.

The Role

The role of Financial Reporting Accountant will report into a Senior Finance Manager; as well as working closely with the Director of Finance, whilst also playing a key business partnering role across the function and throughout the business. This role and the finance team will be required to adapt and react to the changing climates where this organisation operates, both domestically and abroad over the coming years. 

You will be involved in but not limited to the following duties:

  • Design, implement and maintain monthly income analysis for inclusion in Board reports
  • Obtain an in depth understanding of income categories and direct costs
  • Obtain an in-depth understanding of processes and workflow around income recognition
  • Ensure business areas have up to date process maps for all income processes
  • Perform internal control functions where required to ensure segregation of duty
  • Identify and report on gaps in internal controls relating to income, budgeting and forecasting and provide advice on the control measures required
  • Implement and manage a time table for monthly, quarterly and annual budgets and forecasts
  • Ensure clear communication of budget and forecast guidelines with financial planning team
  • Perform review and control checks of invoices and credit notes
  • Provide recommendations to improve internal controls
  • Implement process and system improvements
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors
  • Work closely with the Head of Financial Reporting and Projects to ensure accurate disclosure of income in statutory reports.

To be considered for the role you must:

  • Be a qualified Accountant, CCAB or similar – Essential
  • Have strong technical skills in relation to budget management and current accounting regulations
  • Have good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Be able to analyse complex data to inform decision making
  • Good knowledge and experience of using accountancy software systems
  • Have good ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Be able to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Have strong communication, organisational and time management skills with ability to meet deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail
