The Role

The role of Finance Team Leader will report into a Senior Finance Manager; as well as working closely with the Head of Finance. The successful individual will manage a small team of 2 whilst managing the day-to-day business activities within the Treasury & Banking function.

You will be involved in but not limited to the following duties:

  • Management of Centralised Bank Accounts
  • Bank and General Ledger Reconciliations – completion and approval
  • Analysis and reporting of bank & balance sheet reconciliations
  • Monitoring Banking Team performance & ensuring compliance with processes & controls
  • Ownership of the monthly KPI packs for Treasury & Banking
  • Management and monitoring of cash management process
  • System & process controls and development
  • Ensure transactions are recognised and recorded in line with public sector accounting standards
  • Ensuring accurate and timely income and expenditure allocation through journals, receipts and financial adjustments using ERP
  • Planning and organising workload – managing and prioritising your own and team workload to ensure optimal delivery of overall team objectives
  • Assist the Senior Finance Manager Transactions as required, including month end activities, annual audit & accounts queries
  • Various payment approvals including BACS, CHAPS, Faster Payments, internal transfers, cheques
  • Journals – creation, posting and approval

To be considered for the role you must:

  • Have a formal accountancy or banking qualification or be committed to working towards one 
  • Have proven effective communication and relationship management skills in the workplace
  • Be a highly organised self-starter who works confidently with financial data and can effectively monitor outputs against plans
  • Demonstrates initiative and the ability to problem solve and work independently to think of creative solutions. Has an analytical approach with excellent attention to detail
  • Have basic MS Excel e.g. SUM; SORT; data filters, fixed references and basic graphs
  • Have a practical understanding of double entry book-keeping and journal entry
  • Have a practical understanding of preparing bank reconciliations, the cause of differences and how to resolve these
  • Have Experience in producing process/guidance notes relating to the Banking function
  • Have Experience in producing Financial Analysis and Reporting e.g. KPI’s relating to the banking function
  • Have Experience of being accountable for a key finance task or other similar task that demonstrates sound transactional banking experience

On Offer

The role of Finance Team Leader will offer a starting salary of £24,602 with an excellent benefits package including flexible home working and 36 days holiday allowance. The salary will increase quickly after time served. The employer will also offer a very generous pension. The role is based in Edinburgh and is easily accessible via public transport.
