iMultiply are working retained with ILF Scotland to recruit a part-time Finance Officer based in Livingston. This opportunity presents the successful candidate with the opportunity to work for a great organisation in Scotland.

The Company 

ILF Scotland is a Non-Departmental Scottish Public Body constituted as a company limited by guarantee. They were founded following the closure of UK ILF and have been administering Scottish ILF funding for existing recipients in Scotland and Northern Ireland. They are a thriving organisation going through a period of growth and are looking to add a Finance Officer to their team. They are a hard-working team keen on adding a conscientious and pro-active individual into the business that fits into their dynamic company culture.

The Role

The role of Finance Officer will work with an experienced finance team and will report to the Head of Finance. The successful individual will have experience of purchase ledger, sales ledger, bank reconciliations, credit control and assisting with all things transactional finance.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and will be able to build efficient working relationships with a number of non-finance stakeholders within the organisation. It is also key for this individual to balance their time effectively and prioritise set tasks at the appropriate time. 

You will be involved in but not restricted to the following duties:

  • Ensuring all returned monies and receipts to be checked, recorded and deducted from agreed funding to cover spend
  • Liaise with and acknowledge receipt of any returned monies wit the appropriate ILFS specialist caseworkers and recipients
  • Exercise judgement on cases where spend may not exactly match original application, must be done in conjunction with ILFS Specialist caseworkers and SDS Manager.
  • Cross reference the funding paid matches the spend on receipts and items agreed
  • Close accounts where all spend can be receipted, ensuring any relevant stakeholders are kept fully up to date
  • Proactively engage with recipients who have not responded to end of grant letters. Considering taking formal action if required and follow escalation procedures where appropriate.
  • Ensure all management information systems are fully up to date for each caseload
  • Where monies are owing and recipients are unable to pay back in one lump sum or facing financial hardship in doing so then you will, liaise closely with the recipient of the fund and all relevant stakeholders to develop, generate monitor and proactively manage repayment plans as necessary
  • Assisting with any appropriate and related issues as required by Operations or Finance Team

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have the following experience:

  • Previous experience in a similar type role
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Strong IT skills (in particular Excel)
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrable experience working in finance in particular recovering funds i.e. debt recovery
  • Demonstrable experience of managing a varied caseload
  • Demonstrable and advanced experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Must have empathy and be willing to fully understand the needs of the recipient whilst balancing the needs to recover funds
  • Demonstrable experience of providing technical and specialist advice to a range of diverse stakeholder
  • Highly competent in organisational, time management, administration and planning skills
  • Good interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Detail driven, and with a critical eye on the scrutiny/accuracy of data
  • Must have empathy and be willing to fully understand the needs of the recipient whilst balancing the need to recover funds
  • Awareness of equality and diversity issues, in particular disability
