The Role

As Finance Manager you will play a key role in ensuring the rigorous operation of the finance function, with responsibility for monitoring data, producing reports, budgets, board papers and account statements.  This position has support from and manages the Accounts Administrator.

You will be involved in but not restricted to the following duties:

  • Take an active role in developing new business ideas and preparing robust business models.
  • Be a positive member of the management team and help drive business improvement.
  • Constructively challenge assumptions, processes and decisions as necessary.
  • Maintain an efficient and effective financial model.
  • Ensure costs are monitored and controlled.
  • Liaise with and provide information to auditors.
  • Monitor and report on accounting discrepancies.
  • Analyse financial trends.
  • Ensure meaningful and challenging targets/budgets are in place within an appropriate timescale.
  • Ensure all reports are accurate and ready in time to meet their relevant monthly, quarterly or annual target.
  • Collate and interpret information from across the business.
  • Produce monthly management accounts (profit and loss, cash flow and balance sheets) with variance analysis, performance graphs and any management information required.
  • Periodic and annual budgeting, together with cash flow forecasts.
  • Ensure that adequate financial controls and risk management processes are in place.
  • Carry out regular audits to ensure that processes are adhered to. 
  • Liaise with external risk assurance consultants.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have the following experience:

  • Qualified accountant of a recognised professional body with three to five years post qualification experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment with the ability to interrogate and reconcile Inventory transactions to a high level of detail.
  • Up to date knowledge of Vat, and Intrastat with HMRC.
  • Good working knowledge of ERP and MRP as well as Excellent Excel skills.
  • A self-starter with a flexible, pro-active approach and positive attitude to the diverse needs of the role is essential.
  • The ability to work well cross functionally with non-Finance employees across the business.
