£40,000 to £45,000 - Industry & Commerce - Accountant (Qualified)

iMultiply is engaged by this leading UK engineering company, in their search for a Commercial Accountant based in Glasgow on a full-time basis.  Remote and agile working options are available in this role.

 

The Company

Leaders in their field and at the cutting edge of developments in the sector, this is a rapidly growing company that is looking to expand their finance team.

 

The Role

Significant recent growth has necessitated the addition of a Commercial Accountant to the finance team.  This will be a position with a high degree of visibility within the organization. 

 

The Commercial accountant will play a vital role in ensuring robust and reliable analysis is produced for stakeholders throughout the business and the successful candidate will provide day to day operational support to the senior finance team, in particular the Group Finance Manager and Group Financial Controller.

 

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  •         Administer monthly payroll run for subsidiary company.
  •         Preparation of monthly management accounts for subsidiary company.
  •         Liaise with external auditors to deliver on claim audit requirements within required timeline.
  •         Produce monthly project reporting pack, working closely with key stakeholders across the business to analyse and influence project activity.
  •         Maintain existing PPM system and help transition to and then maintain newly defined projects process and corresponding system(s).
  •         Brief finance director on project proposals ahead of investment committee.
  •         Attend investment committee offering financial insight where appropriate.
  •         Collate and submit annual R&D tax credits claim, working closely with colleagues across the business and incumbent auditors with the aim of maximising R&D tax credit receipt.
  •         Gain an understanding of existing daily finance function and offer insight into improving processes where applicable.
  •         Assist Group Finance Manager in preparation of monthly Group management accounts.
  •         Input into developing and maintaining insightful P&L analysis.
  •         Assist with preparation and review of monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  •         Assist Group finance Manager during annual statutory audit.
  •         Contribute to maintaining the integrity of all ledgers through profit and loss analysis and balance sheet reconciliations whilst ensuring robust audit trail.
  •         Maintain strong working relationships across the business with a view to improving quality of financial information, ensure accuracy and timely delivery.
  •         Preparation of various analysis for key stakeholders throughout the business.
  •         Assist with annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting process.
  •         Maintain sage project accounting and set up new employees as required.
  •         Review and authorisation of weekly payment runs in Group Finance Manager’s absence.
  •         Delegate for Group Finance Manager as required.
  •         Develop a strong understanding all processing routines to cover processing workload as and when required.
  •         Undertake any other ad-hoc tasks as required.

To be successful in this role you must meet the following criteria:

  •         Strong technical capabilities but also have the requisite commercial acumen to be able to engage with senior level stakeholders and provide financial insight and decision support to the wider business.
  •         Qualified Accountant (ICAS, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  •         Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  •         Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  •         Sage 200 experience not essential but highly desirable.
  •         Sage payroll experience not essential but highly desirable.
  •         A keen eye for attention to detail.
  •         Working knowledge of finance daily processing advantageous.
  •         Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
  •         Team player with confidence to work with colleagues across the organisation at various seniority levels.

  

On Offer

This Commercial Accountant role is offered on a full time, permanent basis with a salary of £40,000 to £45,000 based on experience.  Currently working from home though some attendance at the Central Glasgow office will be required in future.
