Accountancy Practice - Accounts Assistant/Assistant Accountant/Bookkeeper

An independent chartered accountancy firm, based in Glasgow currently requires an experienced Bookkeeper to join their dynamic team. This well established firm has vastly experienced Partners who continually strive to deliver excellent service to their clients. The firm provides expertise in a number of areas, including strategic planning, financial modelling and business restructuring, as well assisting businesses with their annual accounts, VAT & corporate tax obligations, management accounts and payroll.

The Role

Primarily, you will lead the Bookkeeping and Payroll services. You will be the main point of contact for clients in terms of payroll queries. Working within a small but dedicated team, you will also support the Partners in providing general bookkeeping and accounts services to a varied client base. You will utilise your experience from a similar role to ensure client’s expectations are consistently exceeded.

Responsibilities

  • You will be the company Bookkeeper/Payroll expert and will be responsible for processing all general bookkeeping duties and payroll weekly/monthly, dealing with pensions and deductions, and resolving issues with professionalism
  • Assist with the preparation of Financial and Management Accounts
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns on behalf of clients and dealing with any HMRC queries
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • All aspects of Sales & Purchase Ledger
  • Reconciling Accounts
  • Bank Reconciliations
  • Liaising with Partners on a daily basis and maintaining excellent lines of communication with your allocated client base

On Offer

The salary for this role will be from £20,000-£26,000, depending on experience of the individual.

 

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have the following experience:

  • It is essential that you have experience of a similar role within an accountancy firm
  • You will have demonstrable skill in maintaining relationships with a diverse portfolio of SMEs
  • You will extensive knowledge of Payroll, VAT returns, and general bookkeeping duties
  • Excellent IT skills will be required. Ideally you will have had exposure to Sage and QuickBooks, although training can be provided
  • Previous experience of Financial Accounts preparation would be an advantage
